Biography

I’m a first year Ph.D. student at the University of Kansas and my research interests are in computational fluid dynamics and combustion. I completed my undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from the Middle East Technical University (METU), Turkey. I had always had a fascination with the physics (and chemistry) of fluids and fluid processes which originally motivated me to pursue engineering. I previously worked as an operations engineer at a chemicals company, where my love for fluid dynamics and combustion grew stronger. I began my doctoral journey in Fall 2022. My research focus involves (will involve) data assimilation and reduced order modeling for combustion processes.

In my spare time, I like to play soccer, video games and watch anime, of which I’m a huge fan. I’m a father to two beautiful cats and husband to my best friend. I hail from Pakistan but have had the pleasure of spending a considerable portion of my life in the U.S, Turkey and South Korea.
