Biography —

Ryan Camacho is a Ph.D. candidate in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Kansas, where his research focuses on developing reduced-order models to reduce the computational cost of high-fidelity rotating detonation engine (RDE) simulations. His work aims to make advanced simulation capabilities more accessible to researchers without extensive high-performance computing resources, broadening opportunities for research and development in this emerging propulsion technology. Ryan earned his Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 2015, establishing his foundation in aerodynamics, propulsion, and computational analysis. He is a recipient of the Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship, a Department of Defense-sponsored program supporting students pursuing education and research in fields critical to national security. This has allowed for his research to be sponsored by the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division at China Lake, and after his graduation he will join their efforts to advance aerospace propulsion capabilities and defense technologies.
